Environmental Conservation, Department of
A Bait License allows the licensee to harvest and sell certain fish and aquatic insects as bait. These licenses are issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Licenses must be renewed annually. The license does not allow for the harvesting of certain species, nor does it permit taking and landing fish for commercial purposes in the Hudson River south of the Tappan Zee Bridge (including all of the Hudson in New York City).
