Businesses that sell used mattresses need a license from the New York State Department of State (NYSDOS).
Bedding is considered "used" if it is provided for resale more than 30 days after original delivery.
Business must pay a fee. Each location needs its own license. Private individuals selling a mattress to another person do not need a license.
