A Rigger License is required to hoist or lower any article on the outside of a building in New York City. This license is issued by the Department of Buildings.
Three types of licenses are issued:
- A Master Rigger License is required to hoist or lower any article, regardless of weight, on the outside of a building in New York City.
- A Special Rigger License is required to hoist or lower any article, not exceeding 2,000 pounds, on the outside of building in New York City.
- A Climber or Tower Crane Rigger License is required to erect or dismantle a tower or climber crane in New York City.
