Businesses that release pollutants into the air need permits from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). If your business emits low levels of pollutants, you must register as an Air Facility.

Pollutant levels

Here is a table to help you understand the different pollutant levels and the type of permit you need:

If your facility exceeds these criteria, you need a Title V Permit, which is for "major sources," such as industrial plants and mills.
